Gapsted Estate, located in Victoria's High Country, is a family-owned award-winning Australian winery with a strong focus on emerging and alternative varieties. Established in 1997, the collaboration of winemakers and viticulturalists used their combined expertise to select the ideal site in North East Victoria. The construction of the winery began with storage and fermentation tanks constructed onsite along with a small crushing facility. The commitment and dedication to producing exceptional wines over the past 26 years has earned a loyal following of wine lovers who appreciate the authenticity and integrity behind each bottle.
The quality and authenticity of our wines has led the portfolio expansion from approachable, joyful wines through to the development of benchmark, prestige wines. Gapsted Estate is renowned for producing exceptional wines from alternative grape varieties that thrive in the Alpine Valleys that demonstrate our ongoing commitment to excellence and the driving force behind our winery and team. By crafting wines of purity, precision and power while nurturing the individuality of the Alpine Valleys and the personality of each variety, we take our customers on an exciting journey of discovery.
Gapsted Estate is a modern, state of the art facility that is capable of crushing up to 5,000 tonnes while having the ability to handle small, premium parcels from vine to bottle. Our current export markets include Norway, Sweden, Finland, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Japan. Our well-known and award-winning brands include:

Alpine Road – The Great Alpine Road stretches across Victoria’s North-East, from the country town of Wangaratta over the Victorian Alps to the coastal settlement of Bairnsdale. Winemaker Bio
Andrew Santarossa has over 25 years of winemaking experience with some of Australia's leading wine companies including Houghton’s, Giant Steps, Domaine Chandon, Cape Mentelle, Cloudy Bay and Mitchelton as well as working with a number of wine companies in a consultant capacity. Andrew is an accomplished wine show judge, panel chair, and chair of judges across multiple regional and state wine shows. Andrew is now leading the winemaking team at Gapsted Estate where Alpine Valleys wines are being crafted that are reflective of variety and season while elevating and respecting our regional sense of place.
Greg Bennett is a highly experienced and passionate winemaker with over 25 years in the Australian wine industry. Greg has gained extensive experience in vineyard, winery and bottling management across numerous wine regions in Australia. Greg loves the diversity of the winemaker role: technical, creative, practical, leadership, and inspiring storyteller. Every vintage feels like a fresh start for Greg in the honest pursuit of winemaking excellence that is respectful of time, place and variety. Greg has a big smile on his face when drinking world class Sparkling, Riesling and Tempranillo, cooking, exploring the Alpine region and spending time with his family.
Toni Pla Bou has worked in the wine industry for twenty five years, working for Houghton Wines, Coldstream Hills, Evans & Tate, Berton Vineyards and as a flying winemaker in Corsica, Roussillon, Gaillac and Corbière with Jean Marc Lafage. Studies in Philosophy and French have informed his understanding of wine, in relation to style, aesthetic and cultural value. Having a Catalonian heritage, Toni has always been passionate about wines from either side of the Pyrenean border: Grenache, Tempranillo, Grenache Blanc, Macabeo and more. Through his winemaking, Toni is inspired by the topographical and climatic affinities between the Alpine Valleys and the European Pyrenees.
